I went back to these initial design but looked at how I could create them on CAD without this time getting distracted by the emoji idea!
I started experimenting with the patterns I had drawn on CAD and could see the potential they had of representing a normal bank note layout but bring this new playful approach into it..
I tried out the other typeface which I initially experimented with but again did not feel like the line weight was providing enough of a contrasting attention-drawer to the note.. And this is what is meant to be the main feature, so I decided to change it back to the other one for that developed reason.
With this note design I had actively decided to keep the colour scheme all exclusive to the background colour and then the context being all present in black. I feel like I could experiment with white accents like the other but it is not necessary, with the new geometrics I am experimenting with anyway it appears strong enough without white throwing it off.
At this stage I was pleased with the way the geometrics appear random and more playful, so felt the 'PLAY' note was ready, I changed it over to the 'WORK' note to start visually seeing which aspects can be altered to create this alternate type of the currency...
Immediately it was obvious that I would change it over to the blue background like in the experiments I did before this. But I was aware I wanted a more vivid and bright shade of the two colours, as oppose to the lighter orange above. As I had settled on the type being used - KG Happy for 'Work & Play' (feat. the linear shadow) and then the use of Helvetica for the body text. I must also point out I am using a different type again for the '5's' present as I was unhappy with the form of Helvetica for number-forms as it appears too default, so wanted something smoother. So I chose to use Biko for these number-forms just as I prefer the more consistent sans-serif version this typeface provides.
The next step was working out how I would portray the playful geometrics present, keeping it consistent to the 'PLAY' note, but providing something visually different for the 'WORK' note.
I realised as playfulness can be communicated as a more random, spontaneous form, why not represent work as being more structured and in an order. So I could use the exact same visual objects, but just arrange them differently to portray this different onlook you should have when working for money to boost your play!
