OUGD406: License to Print Money - Final Design
Final Design
I arranged both sections of the bank note into the more structured order and I feel like it does perfectly create the contrast needed between the two whilst still being consistent styles with eachother. It was at this stage that I did realise I had forgotten again to include the 'Student Currency' line so simply added into the middle linear section and added a stroke around it like on the 5 for ease when screen-printing...

I did encounter more problems with the print process of the final notes than I did the experimental ones as I over-flooded the screen leading to the ink bleeding across the page. However from the first practise it did teach me how to get around this by pulling a couple through onto newsprint stock to remove any excess paint from the screen. I did experiment with these designs to be on some GF Smith textured 200gsm stock however it was on these version where I over-flooded the screen! This meant I had to resort to some equally nice non-textured 175gsm 'Ice White' stock from GF Smith, I have to mention this design decision was purely for exhibition purposes and ease of screen-printing onto thicker stock; butI can be sure that if this currency was to be actually introduced to students in Leeds I would make use of much thinner, most likely textured stock to create a nicer hands-on feel and so it would fit into wallets and pockets more easily..
