OUGD406: Exhibition Branding - Invites

Invite Consideration

As a group we all gathered to analyse where to go from where Katie has left us with the invites. We all agreed the design was not up to scratch with the rest of the material we have produced and feel we should take a new approach with it. The design process will be(have to be - time restraints) a lot quicker this time especially as we now have the visual identity choices ready to just be transferred over onto the invite. I did some new initial research to gather some examples of where I could go with the process, Katie's design providing a skeleton of info and choices to build up from..

I firstly had to decide was I actually wanted to achieve with the invite?
Do I choose to specify each persons/agency/groups name that it is sent out to give a more exclusive and personal touch?
Do I include an RSVP with it or shall I just allow them to show up if they want?
And as it would be received in the post with the flyer do I actually need to include all the address details, etc again? As I can specify in it instead that more info will be revealed on social media closer to the date, so they will get more involved and engaged.

I posed these questions to the group and they left it down to me to come up with a response first and then they would decide..
I produced a very simple but hard-hitting front to the invite which would not usually be expected..

Making use of the symbol I then simply paired it with the Helvetica used for all main text sections, leaving it open for the person's interpretation of what that could mean, encouraging them to look deeper into what the focus of the exhibition actually is.

I started quickly designing for the other side which would include the official invite to the specific person.. including a quick mockup of location and times (for this version I decided to include it as I didn't know what else to put on it. This was because I was in a rush to get a bit of an initial mockup ready for the next big presentation to see if we were to get chosen and taken to the next level to refine the concept for the exhibition even further)..
