The last and my most favourable route/track to take with this project is the John Lennon - Imagine tune. Being the hippy dude he is the lyrics and feelings of his songs and whole identity focus on being all loving and peaceful across the world.
The lyrics in his song depict a world where there is a perfection of mankind who needs no god or religion or hell or heaven but just the happy & content brotherhood of man. Nothing to kill or die for, sharing the world, no greed or hunger.
"You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one" ... "The world will live as one"
This brought me onto visualising designs of fantasy, surrelist, collider scope type images which will go hand in hand with the the bright psychedelic colours and fluid patterns that the ink marbling will provide. I also have plans with my roommates to visit a local Tropical World on Sunday which will provide me with photographic opportunities of different textures from birds, reptiles and plants, etc.
Another idea I hope to play with is that of altering the realities that Lennon identifies in his song, real and fantasy. Lately I have been viewing a lot of Surrealist (some collage design) feeds on instagram which highlight these alternate realities to me through psychedelic patterning and reflective landscapes, etc.
One example who I am particularly interested in is a designer called Joe Cavazos ..
I like the concept of photographing known objects in our reality and then experimenting with mirroring, rotation and colour to almost make it unrecognisable and actively something new. The above images are perfect examples.. Its the idea that what we know can be perceived differently with a different eye/viewpoint.
My quick attempt - Leeds Uni clocktower duplicated, mirrored and rotated. Experimented with a 4 section gradient and a bright, eye-catching pink (not finished, plan to develop idea)
