603 - Brief 02 - Process of Motion Flyers (5)

Ferguson n Friends was another flyer design I wanted to be a bit different and experimental with. Deliberately using an image with a less serious and more funny tone of voice (taken by peer designer and photographer Ben Cooper).


I made use of the illustration I did for him for his identity, which uses that same illustration style as before - I also began to consider how it could work maybe solely as a line drawing or just accentuating the water gun, or as a full colour illustration..




I began brain-storming how I would bring this illustration to life and the obvious way would be to do with the gun...

I combined my illustration with the audio wave experiments and thought about how I could pair these up in a cool and interactive way for the audience, grabbing the most attention.

This was done by using the experiment where the fired line duplicates every 4 beats. This would then get to a point where it sprays out like a water gun but I would approach it as a crazy laser / ray gun with the narrative of Ferguson spraying out the fire tunes - bringing a new meaning to the urban term 'Gun Fingers'

In terms of typography I make use of both AV8 and Ferguson's logo-typeface Eurostile, but then partner this with the bold and well-formed Oswald (as used previously) to provide consistency and legibility.
