603 - Brief 03 - Evaluation

The VS Project brief has actually been one of the longest ongoing briefs I have ever carried out and stuck to - and I am 100% sure that I will continue to develop it after university.

The brief started out as a simple visual inspiration blog situated on Instagram, with the intentions of creating an ongoing discussion with my inspirations throughout the year. This then naturally developed into a means of building bridges and starting conversations with these influential creatives and designers which I look up to and admire, and had been featuring through the platform. I did find this very inspiring for my practise, providing me with that extra bit of confidence to release work out into the industry and be more confident with my professional personality and opinion. I took this confidence even further through carrying out in-depth research into how I can better boost my online presence and tone of voice through the platform - effectively allowing me to test the content I was putting out over a period of time and really focus my engagement and interactivity with the audience. From this, I have definitely evolved my communication skills online and feel more clued up when it comes to reaching that digital audience - this could potentially inspire me to consider a brand / social media consultancy role in the future, so I can truly focus my attention to the digital platform and how I can most effectively engage the audience with the static and moving content I am releasing.

I think I have successfully met the initial guidelines and been able to create an expressive and engaging identity to represent this platform effectively, using an initial yet considered aesthetic to begin with which then got developed and updated as the focus of the page evolved too.

Getting my friend and fellow creative involved with the whole evolving concept for the project provided me with another professional opinion, but from a different discipline and perspective, which helped the basis of the idea grow massively. Being something which will benefit us both after uni and be a lot of fun, we did naturally have a lot of passion and fire in our bellies when it came to brainstorming content and bouncing visual ideas back and forth to achieve the most appropriate identity to represent our duo and plans. This resulted in quite a quick work flow, which actually felt very relaxed and considered which I was surprised about!

We now have plans to develop this into a creative platform promoting not only ourselves and our current projects but our inspirations, day-to-day activities and charitable work too. Aiming to use this page after uni to drive ourselves forward as fresh, recent-grad creatives with a current and playful yet professional approach, presenting to the audience how we will be offering ourselves independently and as a collaborative duo - available for freelance and commissions.

With plans to push our works into a more charitable realm - we aim to raise money and produce fund-raiser projects for charities such as Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Research and Help for Heroes. Eventually feeding into our big travel plan, set to begin in April 2019! And all of this will be documented and featured through our evolving Instagram page, ensuring we have something to show for our travelling experience when we get back to the UK and are seeking employment.

Overall, I did thoroughly enjoy this ongoing brief and feel it has allowed me to better consider my plans for after university. Although this submission is not as strong in terms of outcomes, I feel most happy with it as I know it will have an impact on my approach to the real world industry and my potential employment.
