- was fine at the beginning but was hard when I didn't know which artist I would be designing for
- helped having the background of what genre it would be - to design more considerably of that specific audience
- was trying to plan for about 5-6 weeks in advance
- was clear I needed to confirm all the acts first - so decided to create a season / summary of the first few listings (could also be a summary poster opportunity - more promo content to consider)
AV8-002: Sam Hughes & Friends
AV8-003: Slump Sounds
AV8-004: Revamp
AV8-005: Frazah
AV8-006: Ferguson & Friends
AV8-007: Livsey B2B J69
How is each flyer going to relate back to the brand and feel an element of consistency / relate-ability, whilst being something new and unique for the audience to be engaged by?
- These first few streams I can use as a tester to question my audience which design style they prefer and think is most effective / reflective of the industry.
First Poster Idea with Placeholder text:
- Type: Oswald

Oswald Bold is a reworking of the classic gothic typeface style historically represented by the 'Alternate Gothic' typefaces. The characters of Oswald have been re-drawn and reformed to better fit the pixel grid of standard digital screens, making it a perfect impactful typeface which references the past as well as being pushed forward into the future - reflective of the design style and justification I am trying to portray through my motion flyers for the underground dance music industry.
It's varied styles and weights make it a flexibly designed typeface - ideal to be used freely across the internet by web browsers on desktop computers, laptops and mobile devices also making it perfect for use across the various online social platform.
Feedback:
- Hard-hitting but no branding - obviously include AV8 logo so the audience can start identifying with it.
- Maybe too much in terms of tropical/summer vibes, considering the time of year, tone back and experiment with a different piece of footage perhaps?
- Use of the audio-waves might actually make it too busy, especially once I've added the branding, consider this and perhaps strip it back?
- Consider transitioned animations & loop music perfectly for use on socials (facebook & insta loop videos under 30 seconds)
Finalised concept:
- Added the AV8 logo and then did decide to remove the audio waves. It did feel much too busy and detracted away from the content too much - so I stripped it back to just the rotating logo.
- Made use of a more strict colour scheme to tie it all together and balance the colour out. Pink is unique and out there for use in the underground music industry - doesn't necessarily feel too feminine however.
- Used some artificial footage of water/the sea instead, this would still relate to more relaxed summer vibes (exaggerated by the colour choice) - with the whole soft grain yet crackly aesthetic reflective of this more analogue yet digital vibe - which is perfectly in-captured by the lo-fi house music genre too.
- Again I chose to invert the footage and then gradient map the colours to keep it inline with the whole colour scheme.
- Also considering the starter and ender transitions - to smoothen the whole loop whilst bringing more life and interactivity to it to grab the audiences eye as they scroll past.
- Music choice: Passarani - Wonky (summer tech-y feels)
