- Playing outside instead of on xbox - kid w/football, other kids sat ignoring him on their phones - zoom in on football and make it an continuous loop zooming into the scene on a patch of the ball.
- Getting lost and having to find your way by asking directions or reading a map - chatting a pointing at a map, big bag on
- Going to Blockbuster to rent movies for the weekend - vcr? kids sat by tv
- Never alone - person in bed with the room lighting up by their phone - fan spinning?
- Sign at the Rave - "no phones allowed on the dancefloor - dancing and cheering happy people
- Sociable breakfast - everyone on devices: grandad reading the paper, mum on ipad, child with phone and headphones - reflecting the different generations and how it is changing.
- Cowboy face off - keyboard in the holster
- Phone Islands concept - phones floating on the water, make them like individual islands/boats/world in which people only communicate via phone - surrealist response? - trapped inside a phone - like a jail cell, or more surrealist.
- Enjoying a concert without hundreds of arms holding mobile phones in your way.
- Food selfie - focusing more on anti-social aspect of phones on the table? - headphones scrolling and ignoring eachother
- Switching your alarm off manually vs iPhone - zoomed or full bedroom view?
- Teletext: checking the news/football scores : room full of family round tv : room full of family all on modern devices not talking
Should I do it by comparing the 2 versions:
- the past then vs how its changed now
OR just focus on reminiscing the past and be more ambiguous like illustrations in research

With an array of possible themes for my series of illustrations/animations I tried to start narrowing it down to the strongest conceptual ideas and to the ones I felt most passionate and confident producing a response for.
After looking at the dimensional perspective illustrations by Tom Haugomat, I began considering how I could approach this method, creating imaginary scenes* were the different ideas could resonate within.
* Imaginary, but inspired by the style of highly fashionable open-plan modern apartments
- Makes the whole illustration feel more sophisticated and designer - thus attractive for the audiences as it is something they desire - want to be more like the ad
Thinking predominantly about how I could draw with the shadows and light itself -
I started sketching various 3d layouts:
Inspired by the likes of Tom Haugomat I was trying to portray perspective, one big window on the far side creating the light source, then allowing for long casted shadows to allow for a strict colour palette.
