Following on from my presentation I was able to gather some feedback to help point me in the right direction with my research, to get the project kicked off and to get some ideas flowing. Points made by peers include..
- Contrast our typography back home with the pictures I have got out there
- This can then show how how type is slowly developing with the economy of the country
- Is it becoming Westernised like all other aspects of life?
- Link to buildings/landmarks?
- Classic City Guide?
- I need to consider why the type actually has meaning in relaion to its context in the centre of Belgrade.
- Masculine v.s. Feminine Type? - my pictures probably arent refined enough for this now
- Look at how the class differences are reflected through type used on their signage- perfections/imperfections
- Need to know how the history of Serbia (in relation to art) may affect typography
- More specifically if there is a history of type/advertising/graphics in general in Serbia.
Now I have some things to start looking into
