OUGD406: Exhibition Branding - Social Media Influences

Social Media

I wanted to research into ways in which exhibitions / events are advertised on social media, as social media will be play a key role in our means of advertising for this event alongside more excluse printed invites and printed versions of the posters. However as these types of promotional material only have a certain reach, social media allows you to spread the word on various platforms to a larger target audience.
Another advantage would be that you can quickly and easily update people with event changes on facebook for example, starting a group which can feature previews of work and exhibition space to keep the audience engaged. I started to look at events on Facebook that I've been exposed to and interested in to see how events management keep people interested and updated online.

Facebook offers the key information for the event such as time, date, location and links to ticket information. Anyone is able to invite vast amounts of people off their friends list and even if you only select 'Interested' in the event you still receive event details and posts on your feed.
Frequent updates on the venue location space can remind people of the event and make them more aware of the exhibition before they even attend. Having related events on the event page can inform people of other events being hosted by the college or even just events being held in creative spaces within the city. Other related news & info are available too.
