OUGD404 - Study Task 02 - Colour Relativity

"There are no ugly colours; there are only ugly colours in combination."
27 / 10 / 15

At the start of the session, Danny got us to write down our least favourite colour. I chose green as it is a colour I don't use very often in my work as I just have other preferences. But the point of the task was to select a colour scheme which featured and incorporated my chosen 'ugly' colour and make it work as a colour scheme for a children's book.
I looked at my options with the Pantone Colour Charts and then decided to see what the Adobe Colour wheel would allow me to match up.

I looked at different shades of the green and then its complimentary colour. Reds and pinks worked well and when I used a deep shade of the colour it was very relatable to a Christmassy theme. This pushed me to try lighter, more pastel shades, which resulted in more of a pink/cream and could depict a modern flatter style.
Lastly I wanted to experiment with something a lot more spontaneous and bright so found more of an electric green matched well with an electric blue. These appear very bright and attractive to a younger target audience...
