Our society has the tendency to rely on technology a little too much.
We all aimlessly go through our days with our heads down texting, checking Instagram, or scrolling through emails.
People today would rather be ‘fake’ engaging with the digital platform; leaving likes and shallow comments rather than having a real conversation.
Nobody really stops to think about how much they actually might be missing out on because this has become such a cultural normality.
It’s crazy to think back to before technology was so prevalent and remember all those little things we didn’t appreciate, as now we aren’t even able it appreciate anymore.
I tried to think about all these things which have changed/updated now - attempting to infer feelings, memories and actual experience into my response which everyone can relate to:
- Playing outside instead of on xbox
- Playing with board games instead of apps.
- Going to Blockbuster to rent movies for the weekend.
- Enjoying a concert without hundreds of arms holding mobile phones in your way.
- Eating delicious food without having to take a picture of it first.
- When people gave you compliments in person, rather than commenting it via social media.
- Switching your alarm off manually vs iPhone
- Teletext: checking the news/football scores
- Getting lost and having to find your way by asking directions or reading an actual map.
- Going to Blockbuster to rent movies for the weekend.
