OUGD405: Information Design - Studio Brief 02 - Production

Production on InDesign
22 / 01 / 16

The most difficult thing was creating the double sided template on InDesign, with the diagonal cuts on the doors being flipped in the right direction and then being able to follow my A4 print guide to ensure each face was flipped correctly to counter-act the fold-line it would encounter.

Basic template for both sides (would just have to flip)
First side with background starting to mark out context
The more complicated second side, which will hold the sliced up and flipped panoramic pieces
Mistakes with flipping occurred and caused confusion! (The van needs to be flipped horizontally as well as vertically to appear to be driving inwards into the leaflet.
But can see here how images start filling the gaps created by the guidelines and how then the structure must be adjusted for perfect arrangement.

It all starts lining up now but must be print tested...

This is the final layout of the first side to my leaflet, before being print tested. It holds the middle piece to the pano which will be completed by the print that will be on the other side of the top over-hanging yellow folds. To not over-crowd or -complicate the information layout for the viewers I kept it very simplistic from the type choice (discussed in previous post) to the diagonally leaning text box sides; to ensure the form is consistent with the diagonal of the door and the rest of the leaflet.
Next is to print and produce... (will take some testing)
