603 - Brief 03 - Creating the VS Brand - Logo

Now I had the decided logotype, and abbreviated version of this, I needed to consider how I could adapt this into a symbol to easily represent the brand too, whilst taking into account our broad global target audience - more specifically people within the creative industries.

- Tried out basic bounding boxes for the abbreviation
- Then thought about how I could take into account the whole name 'visual stimuli'

- in order to capture that stimuli there is quite often a lens involved - this is an element which will play a massive role in the documentation of our travels and various creative events we may put on.

- So I thought about how we could represent this through the shutter of a camera.

- Experimenting with the aperture of the lens, thus how much negative space there is; the width of the dividing lines, to ensure it works at a small scale; whether it is bound within a box or not?! - all elements to consider...

Laid these out next to the logotype -

Feedback:

As we are aiming this at such a broader audience I saw it necessary to receive feedback from non-designers too to ensure we are appealing to the diverse market, as sometimes a professional opinion on its own can be quite biased.
- Feedback suggested how the top shutter options give more depth and context to the  services we will be offering. To further develop on this, it is down to how the outlining shape draws your eye into the centre of the logo, allowing the VSP to better resonate with them.

- Peers felt that the other ones were intriguing and artisanal, but didn't offer anything memorable about the brand.

Final:

- without the border it doesn't feel restricted or en-closed, it is a free symbol mark which can fit on any necessary media.
- ensuring the dividing lines are thick enough for when at a small scale..

Now I had the identity perfected and ready for use across every media, it was time I began creating some outputs to represent the brand that we can actually build it up with..
Output Ideas:

- Business Cards
- Instagram Page
- Other page/groups on Facebook?
- Website landing page - to start us off (potentially work this into a full online blog?)
- Crowd-funder
