These could either be rewards they earn for sharing and publicising their use of the app; or it could be through putting more of a gaming / achievements style of reward within the app were they have to travel to specific points in the city or complete certain routes / distances / playing times to earn discounts, etc.
I will definitely incorporate this style of promotion technique for OnYerBike as it is people are easily attractive and quite responsive when there is something on offer for free.
The next suggestion was to consider apps like the recently popular PokemonGo which is a game involving you to earn your Pokemon and other in-game gifts through travelling on the live map (which has been virtually recreated in the Pokemon style) to various landmarks (or Poke-Stops) to actually find the rewards or compete against people. They also make use of distance travelled/time played milestones which are obviously earned through continuous use of the app.
A real representation of where you are in the world, displays roads and park areas, etc - but the map shows were you actually need to travel to in real life.
The app switches to your camera and displays the reward in your real environment and you play to win it.
I can be very inspired from this app in terms of earning rewards through milestones and loyalty cards within the app, and it could be a very good idea to apply more of a gaming style to something more practical like the purpose of my app - I could possibly look to apply something more fun like this within the app in terms of Tours around the city perhaps? And if the app was to actually launch I could look to involve the first person gaming experience within this section aswell. But for this project my priorities lie with the functionality of the app - providing the most efficient and appropriate user experience attracting the target audience.
In the feedback it was also highlighted to me how rather than completely abandoning my other concept to solve the problem with a transport comparison app

So would include the options like in CityMapper - to walk, take the bus, or get a taxi - still considering differences in number of calories burnt (still encouraging element of promoting a healthy active lifestyle), emissions emitted (making you consider the pollution you are contributing to within the city), and then the time each of them take, in comparison to the price.
