503 - Penguin Book Cover - Development

I developed the new illustration and could immediately see how it would fit the cover style I was aiming a lot better than the previous one. Allowing me to portray a more sophisticated, realistic interpretation with long casting eery shadows.

I sampled the colour scheme from my colour palette documented previously - trying to develop this cold feel to the cover and the sincerity of what actually took place' but not just the ordinary white/blues. At the same time I kept it still quite pastel-y to fit this modern style and slant that I originally stated I wanted to portray.

I am very fond of this design and feel it has a lot of potential that will come with development, but again I have decided to move on to keep my experiments and options fresh, and have lots of possible routes to present to in a crit group to get maximum feedback and possibilities with the cover, to see which potential style would attract the appropriate target audience. I will come back to it in the future.

I decided that I would take a different route with the illustrations, trialling a more zoomed in approach onto the tied hands, allowing me to portray the shadows in more of a free illustrative style..
