With aims to tackle the problem of efficient public travel through the city centre of Leeds, which prioritises pedestrians and safety, promotes a healthy active lifestyle, and cuts air and noise pollution. A concept could be through the introduction of a Public Bike Scheme in the city centre - I would design the app and interface at bike drop-off points, supported by entirely digitally based interactive campaign (further pushing environmental considerations) with the app including most efficient routes, other transport options/info, tours and top spots, etc & then a user interface at bike drop off points around the city to help you get on your bike!
This idea is greatly inspired by schemes in other big cities I have visited, such as London, Amsterdam and hundreds of others. Nowadays, hundreds of cities have bike-sharing systems, and the phenomenon is still growing. The original idea was floated on a summer’s day in 1965 as Provo’s answer to the perceived threats of air pollution and consumerism.
In the middle of Amsterdam, the activists painted a small number of used bikes white, and issued a pamphlet stating that “the white bike symbolises simplicity and hygiene as opposed to the gaudiness and filth of the authoritarian car”. The white bicycles were left unlocked around the city, to be used by anyone in need of transport.
Nowadays, Amsterdam have hundreds of various Bike rental services across the city, but it has spread across the globe. A more specific single scheme example I looked into was in London.

Santander Cycles is London's self-service, bike-sharing scheme for short journeys
You can hire a bike from as little as £2. Simply go to any docking station with your bank card and touch the screen to get started.
There's no need to book - hire a bike, ride it where you like, then return it to any docking station.
The services the scheme offers..
The website and app provide live information on the docking points, with a map for exact locations and routes and the availability at that station.
The process is made as simple and as easy to follow as possible, and I can consider this further for my project, through analysing its User Experience design in partnership with the Interface design. This is how it is all explained on their website..

Select 'Hire a cycle', follow the on-screen instructions and take the printed release code
You can hire up to four bikes at the same time (you'll need a separate release code for each bike)
Tip: Santander Cycles is for short trips so, once you have paid the £2 bike access fee for the day, the first 30 minutes of each journey is free. Longer journeys cost £2 for each extra 30 minutes.
Tip: Each bike release code is valid for 10 minutes and only at that docking station. Bikes are valuable so don't let anyone see your code before you use it.
Step 2 - Ride

Choose your bike and check the tyres, brakes and bell
Type your five-digit release code into the docking point's silent keypad and pull the bike out when the green light appears
Adjust the saddle height and you're good to go!
Tip: The bikes have lights that come on automatically when you start pedalling.
Step 3 - Return

You must wait for the green light, which will show that the bike is securely docked (otherwise we will continue to charge you for your journey).
If the docking station is full, select 'No docking point free' at the terminal and follow the on-screen directions to get an extra 15 minutes free
To find a nearby space if the docking station is full, select 'Status of nearest docking station' at the terminal. Remember, if you're not using the bike, dock it back!
Tip: If the bike is unsafe to ride, please let us know it needs repairing by pressing the 'Fault' button on the docking point within 10 seconds of docking it. Turn the saddle backwards to show others that it needs repairing.
Tip: You will need to wait five minutes before hiring another bike.
You also have the option to take the experience further by downloading the Santander Cycles app, giving you a release code direct to your smartphone, letting you skip past the terminal and get on your bike quicker.
In the latest app update, it now features docking station information, live bike availability and an interactive map.
You can save your favourite docking stations and search by Tube and train stations, London landmarks and street name.
You can also see up-to-the-minute information about bike and space availability at docking stations; Plan your journey with an easy to follow map; and view your recent journeys and charges
SO ITS ALWAYS GETTING MORE EFFICIENT
