OUGD406: License to Print Money - Leeds Research

Leeds

Nearly all currency features items/imagery on them which reflect the history and heritage of that location, for example - iconic landmarks, buildings, famous people, etc.
As I am trying to represent a modern slant on currency instead of focusing on traditional, I do not necessarily want to look into the history of leeds. I am more interested in the present and the city in its current state, however I am not saying I am going to neglect history. I decided to try and list as many trivial examples linked to Leeds as I can..
- The Kaiser Chiefs

- Leigh Francis a.k.a Kieth Lemon

- Damien Hirst

- Henry Moore

- Marco Pierre White
- Jimmy Saville
- Dry Dock Bar

- The Horse Statue in Trinity

- Corn Exchange

- Everyman Cinema
- M&S original in the market

- X-Ray Crystallography
- Cluedo!

I am unsure how I would make use of these images yet as I will be using traditional processes to print the bank notes so I would have to vectorise the image by re-drawing it on Illustrator or split the colours into layers to pull it through.
But atleast now I have options and ideas on what I could include as the feature on the note, however I am unsure at this point whether I even want it to feature any actual imagery, or if I want to recreate this whole visual concept of currency and strip it back for my 'community student currency!'
