When considering my influences and inspirations for the development of ideas for this publication, I wanted to look at clean and distinct editorial. Those which are mainly linked with the fashion and lifestyle sector of editorial, however some of my influences have come from more niche/edgy skate/surf mags like Desillusion aswell. I feel like these styles of publication aim to expose as much negative space as possible to make the the image and text the key aspect of the spread. I love the simplistic nature to these zines, following modernist principles but then some also having that experimental touch, making them stand out and be unique.
The most obvious examples being Editorials such as Cereal, Kinfolk, etc..
To get a better idea I asked my peers for feedback on what they consider to be a stereotypical fashion / lifestyle publication and the responses were all very similar, 'full bleed covers' and 'enhancing white space'. The reason I asked for this feedback is because I'm aiming to achieve a similar style with my publication, seen as my content is music influenced I want to produce something that isn't the norm in music publications which are normally overcrowded with adverts, lists and small justified rags.
