OUGD404: Studio Brief 02 - Content Layout

Content & Page Layout

In relation to the article size I was able to estimate what would fit on what page, and then start developing a rough idea of how it would all fit on the page. I represented how the text and images would be presented on each page, even in sketch I started to bring together a consistent editorial layout. I am aiming to achieve a minimal and clean style similar to what is found in lifestyle publications.

I have already stated how I will be using a 15mm x 15mm margin for the front and back covers to keep it regular for first viewing. However inside the mag I have changed them to a 15mm x 10mm (width-ways)to allow for space for a header - article name, & footer - page number. I have not specified gutterings on the plans above however plan for them to be 7mm to keep text and imagery separated efficiently enough, to activate white space.
On spread 03, I planned a full bleed photo to fit across the spread for each of the article openers. However upon further considerations I changed the layout to one which enhanced white space even more and so I could experiment with grids more freely.
I now plan to move to CAD and start experimenting with certain grids to feature in the editorial, trying to keep it as consistent as possible!
