OUGD404 - Studio Brief 01 - CAD continued..

Adding the context

Now I had my design layout ready, it was a matter of finalising context and inserting it into the spaces ready for them. I needed to check it all fits together, with specific regards to the colour and type. To fit with the simplistic vector image style I knew I was going to use a very modern, sans serif typeface. But I wanted to choose one with a bit of character to go alongside the brightly coloured patterns. I chose Biko regular as the type to be used in the publication as I have used it before and it proves to be very regular and legible at a small scale. It holds all the advantages of a minimal sans serif typeface but does provide that bit of character with the stems and flow on some of the letterforms.

The Contents page now appears very efficient and acts as a good opener to the publication. The colour scheme and type are now set and should provide consistency throughout. (Remember all white on the document will actually appear as the creamy stock colour)

On the intro page, I did have to pay particular attention to the typesetting to ensure the type fitted perfectly within the given ext box space. The left text box was justified and centred so it fit the regular shape of the text box, whilst the the right text box was flushed left and ragged right to maintain the flow of not being centred.

Type alignment here was simple and obvious, flushed left, then centred, then flushed right to keep the balance on the page..
