The overall response to our logo was quite positive and Simon (our tutor) described it as 'having a lot of potential', however there are some flaws with the design work which let it down. Immediately he was drawn to the irregular kerning and highlighted how it appears to read HE LPLI NK due to the gaps. This is something that can be easily changed but it is a problem. He pointed out how the text beneath ('the boiler people') may get lost when the logo is printed on business cards, etc due to how small and thin the type is, which again is a valuable point which we will learn from.
On the up side, there was nothing negative to say about the orange HL above, other than a slight warning off peers that it was slightly swaying away from the brief of it being logotype; however my argument was always that it is type that I have adapted into something 3Dimensional!
Simon added some general tips to the whole class aswell when presenting, involving no block text on slides - you be the one to do the talking, not the audience reading; and then also always present colour options/palette when in development stages - as it gives the client more options to visualise within the necessary context.
